Sheffield University Bankers Hockey Club (SUBHC) and Sheffield University Men’s Hockey Club (SUMHC) seek an individual to take on the role of Performance Squad Head Coach.
SUBHC consists of 7 men’s teams, while SUMHC have 5. A high proportion of members play for both SUBHC at the weekend and SUMHC on a Wednesday.
With SUBHC’s Men’s 1st XI relegated in the 2021-22 season, we are eager to find an individual to take SUBHC and SUMHC up to the level they know they can perform at. SUBHC 1 st XI will play in Yorkshire and North East Division 1 and Bankers 2s will continue to consolidate their position in Yorkshire 1. SUMHC 1 st XI will be in BUCS Northern 2.
The ideal candidate would be able to commit to Monday night university coaching, Thursday night club coaching, Saturday Club games and as many Wednesday University games as possible.
The role includes, but is not limited to:
Planning and delivering coached training sessions on a Monday evening for SUMHC and a Thursday evening for SUBHC.
Managing SUBHC’s 1st XI in Saturday league and cup fixtures and, whenever feasible, SUMHC 1st XI’s Wednesday league and cup fixtures.
Designing and delivering a system of core tactics and introducing and promoting key expectations for the team.
Bolstering teamwork and camaraderie.
Encouraging safe sporting practices.
Modelling commendable sportsmanship.
While the ideal candidate would be one who can fulfil requirements as above, we would welcome applications from candidates regardless of whether they can fulfil all the above.

This position is ideal for an aspiring coach who is looking to develop their own skillset at a friendly and welcoming but competitive sports club.
A trial session would be desirable at Norton Sports Facility, Sport Sheffield, where both clubs play their home games.
